Membership and Library Card Policy

A valid Jane Stern Dorado Community Library (JSDCL) card is required to check out materials from the library, access the wireless network or to register for library programs and courses. No library card is needed to use materials in the library, to use library computers, or to attend library activities. Members should make sure to keep the library updated with their e-mail addresses to keep you current on the libraries activities and programs. Library cards will be issued to applicants according to the following categories and terms:

Memberships valid for one year from the date of issuance:

Students $1

Adult Residents of Dorado $10

Adult Non-Dorado Residents $12

Donations to the JSDCL operating fund at the levels listed below confer one membership, to be formalized at the library.

1.  For the purposes of a library card, adults are applicants 18 years or older.

2.  The student rate applies to applicants from pre-elementary, elementary and high school grades through those pursuing university studies.

3.  Library cards expire after a period of one year, and may be renewed upon payment and presentation of valid identification.

4.  A valid identification is required for library card registration or renewal.

5.  Members are responsible for any fines, damages, or policy violations on materials borrowed with their cards.

6.  Lost or damaged cards will be replaced with a new card for a charge of $1.00 if more than four months remain on the subscription. Otherwise, the new card will be issued at the normal applicable renewal rate. Be sure to report lost or stolen cards promptly to avoid unauthorized use.
